Local Esports Company to Host Online Gaming Tournament for Region

Scranton, PA February 16, 2021 – Electric City Esports, local marketing and consulting esports agency, intends to host its first-ever online gaming tournament on March 18, 2021. Electric City Esports, located near its namesake city, Scranton, “The Electric City” launched in 2020 and is now making a name for itself in both the local and esports community.

On March 18, 2021, Electric City Esports will host its first-ever esports tournament. Players will be competing against each other online for giveaways and a cash pool prize. While many have needed to postpone or cancel events this year, Electric City Esports doesn’t face that problem. “The beauty of our industry and in general video games is that everything can be done completely online,” Giombetti notes. “We want to show the community video games are a force for good and can help with events, fundraising and more while COVID-19 is still going on.”

Electric City Esports is actively seeking participants and sponsors for its debut tournament. “We want to put on our very first tournament right here in NEPA,” Davis says. “We want to give back to the region we have grown up in and lived in all our lives. We love NEPA and want to show the area that video games and specifically esports are a force for good and can help communities – video game players, businesses and beyond.” If you are a video game player or business looking to get involved with Electric City Esports’ tournament, please contact Electric City Esports at contact@electriccityesports.com or visit their tournament signup website, Esports Station, at www.esportsstation.net.

Chris Davis & Matt Giombetti are the owners and founders of Electric City Esports, a company focused on expanding the growth of esports locally and nationally. Davis & Giombetti are 2019 graduates of Penn State Scranton and NEPA natives, having lived here all their lives. In the fall of 2019, Davis & Giombetti both left their corporate careers in search of something more fulfilling – ultimately deciding to take their passions for gaming and start a company dedicated to seeing the growth of what they call the next wave of sports, esports.

“The next generation of sports is here, and it’s completely digital,” Davis says. “What used to be considered a hobby, playing video games, have turned into a professional endeavor, and both video game players and schools are starting to catch onto all the industry has to offer.” Davis & Giombetti officially launched Electric City Esports in 2020, and have seen much growth – taking on clients, appearing in articles and bringing onboard team members for various roles. Electric City Esports is full steam ahead, and they are excited to have their debut esports event right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
